Here is a (bad, sorry) photo of my frozen screen: Imgur
This just happened. It was sitting at the login screen unattended for 10-15 minutes. At this point it will not respond to the keyboard at all and I need to hit the reset button. Once I reset, it seems fine and I'm now logged in. It has happened once before, so but there is no pattern of behaviour that I can see causing it.
Here's my specs:
- GA-H97M-D3H - mATX board
- Intel Core i5-4690
- G.SKILL F312800CL10D16GBXL Ripjaws X 16GB 2X8GB Kits
- Corsair CS450M CS Modular PSU
- Samsung 850 EVO MZ*75E250B/AM 250GB 2.5in SATA III Internal SSD With AES 256 Encryption
- generic ATX case
- Western Digital WD5000AAKX - 500GB, 16MB CACHE SATA DRIVE
I used unibeast + multibeast for the install, I am running Yosemite 10.10.5 Here are my Multibeast options:
Quick Start > DSDT Free Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC892 Drivers > Disk > Intel Generic AHCI SATA Drivers > Disk > IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector Drivers > Disk > TRIM Enabler > 10.10.3 TRIM Patch Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.16.1372 Bootloaders > Chimera v4.1.0 Customize > Boot Options > Basic Boot Options Customize > Boot Options > Generate CPU States Customize > Boot Options > Hibernate Mode - Desktop Customize > Boot Options > Kext Dev Mode Customize > Boot Options > Use KernelCache Customize > System Definitions > iMac > iMac 14,1 Customize > Themes > tonymacx86 Black
LATER, I added these options: Network > RTL 8111v1.2.3
I wanted to remove the Generate CPU states, as my machine would freeze after going to sleep and I read that this was something to try for the series 9 motherboards running Haswell processors. So I also edited /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist and changed the entries for GeneratePStates and GenerateCStates and set to “No” and then rebooted.
Any suggestions? thank-you
ps: The G.Skill RAM is on the approved list by Gigabyte, and the Corsair PSU is listed as Haswell-ready, so I do not think that this is the infamous "Haswell Freeze"
pps: And a little while later it did it again. I was logged in, doing some simple Safari browsing, just trying to use the machine for a while. I turned my back for about 1-2 minutes to check my other computer and when I turned back the screen was frozen again with the same kind of vertical bars.
