Here's my basic specs:

  • Gigabyte Z77X-D3H
  • Intel I5 3570K
  • ATI R7850 2GB

Installation/first boot was pretty seamless, which was great. Got a few extra drivers (audio, network etc) installed via MultiBeast, but now I can only boot the system via the install/recovery USB stick.

I don't see the Chimera boot screen I was expecting to see, so I have to invoke my BIOS boot select menu and select my Yosemite HDD. When I do so, I see the following 'boot 0: Done' message followed by a load of garbled text (see picture of somebody else with the same problem here).

Somebody suggested the system would boot if I switched to the onboard graphics, despite the fact that I can boot it fine with my GPU from the USB stick. It does indeed get past this error and boot fine using onboard graphics, but I want to use my high-spec GPU for system tasks like rendering so using onboard isn't really a viable solution...

So far, under suggestions from others with the same problem, I've tried various things, none of which have worked:

  • setting onboard graphics to IGFX (or something) from within BIOS
  • Manually writing boot1h to the drive
  • Using Chameleon bootloader

Most of these ended up causing more problems rather than fixing... Apparently the boot0 errors are quite prevalent so those on forums quickly jumped to suggest fixes to that problem, not realising my issue is different...! So just to re-iterate, my issue is the garbled text screen after 'boot0: Done' when trying to boot from the Yosemite drive, NOT just standard 'boot0' issue....

Any ideas??
