I must have had patches on top of rollbacks, on top of patches - on my old Yosemite build. It just refused to behave with Clover on both PBR and also UEFI boot.
I did a TM backup, and did a fresh 10.10.4 install and updated to 10.10.5.
Everything (except sleep) is working perfectly, even better than Chimera with only 3 added kexts (AppleHDA, RTL8111, GenericUSBXHCI). Nearly instant shutdown/restart (huzzah) and kextcache rebuilds correctly now! UseKextCache=Yes means superfast boots too!
All my previous errors have been resolved, and I love the speed which Clover appears. SpeedStep working perfectly, as is sound (I use LayoutID1, so needed a solution that still uses that. I settled for the All-in-One-Audio2.0 package, and inject AudioID 1 in Clover. Using NVIDIA Web Driver for my GTX 660. FakeSMC+HWMonitor both working as before, with all values correct!
It is strange that not one person recommended a fresh install, when this was obviously what I needed :-)
Dual-booting with legacy Win7-64bit. Really working well.
