Hello, Thanks in advance for helping me out.

This is my first Hackintosh build, but I'm not afraid to get stuck into the deep end. I used to be a coder many years ago, so I feel fairly competent in getting my head around complex stuff.

I'd like to have a system where I can have a lot of raw CPU power. Solid performance and once installed, a reliable OS.

I'm planning on using a Firewire audio interface that I have so I'm not terribly concerned about graphics power or on board audio working. I just want a solid machine to run Ableton Live to replace my ageing Mac Pro 12 core (2012 model)

Here's the hardware I've picked out. I understand that I'll need to learn how to patch the kernel to get the Haswell/x99 platform up and running. There's two choices I have for the motherboard.

CPU: Intel Core i7 5930K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.5ghz

RAM: Crucial Ballistix 16GB (4x 4GB) DDR4 2400MHz Gamin…

Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH X99

or

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4

Video: EVGA GeForce GT 610

Extra: Asus ThunderboltEX_II / Gigabyte Thunderbolt expansion card
