Hello all, just thought I would leave a bit of an update here just in case someone may be running a similar setup and might need some help. I have successfully got my hackintosh build to work flawlessly. The primary reason I did this build was to have a desktop for Logic Pro and Final Cut X which I currently run on my macbook. So here is my setup:

  • Mobo: Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H-A
  • CPU: Intel i5 4460
  • Ram: Ballistix Sport 2x4GB
  • GPU: R7 260x
  • PSU: Corsair CX430

I know it's not the prettiest build, but it is working flawlessly for me and it is a system I can always upgrade in the future. Mostly everything worked OOB but I had to do some tweaking to get my graphics card to work with a dual monitor setup. Here is what I did to get that to work:

First, i installed clover onto a usb for my bootloader, as I did not feel like reinstalling my OS since I use the unibeast method. Then, once you have clover running, go to the graphics injector in the settings and set the graphics card's FakeID as 0x66401002 so that it will be supported in Yosemite. Right now there doesn't seem to be any dual monitor support for the GPU, but a simple workaround for this is to set IGFX as the main graphics boot device in your BIOS. After you have this set, plug one of your monitors into the graphics card and the other into the onboard graphics. Once the system boots into OSX Yosemite it should automatically identify your displays and you will a working dual display setup.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will try my best to get those answered. For more information I recommend reading the side bar as this is just a brief summary of my system and not the installation process of an entirely new hackintosh system.
