Today is the big day. El Capitan is being released.

At this moment I have a perfectly working version of Yosemite that has taken me quite a lot of effort. I would like to upgrade, but I am wondering what my options are, and what would be the best way to go about it.

I am running Clover.

Option 1: The Second SSD

Right now I have an empty SanDisk 120GB in my machine that I use for the occasional backup and swapping of files from OS X to Windows.

I could install a test copy of El Capitan on this drive, and if all goes well install it on my main EVO 500GB SSD.

...

Option 2: Bite the Bullet

The most risky is to just upgrade my current version of Yosemite and hope for the best.

...

Option 3: Attack of the Clones

One option is to CCC my current Yosemite drive, install El Capitan from scratch, and have the backup just incase. The problem with this method is that whenever I have tried using CCC, I've never been able to get it to work. Nothing ever feels as fast or right after.

I realize that is probably in my head, but perhaps I'm not doing it right.

...

Option 4: New SSD

The whole reason why this is an issue is that I want El Capitan on my EVO 500GB. I could just buy a new EVO 500GB and use that as my new OS X drive. If everything works out, use the old SSD for Windows or backup.

Anyone have any advice, suggestions, or other options?
