Having a hard time getting sound to work.

hello all. i've been following this guide with great success with some additional help in the forum.http://ift.tt/1OkiHKA now i'm trying to get sound to work using this guide. http://ift.tt/1YxJeDH I'm on step 3 and i cannot figure out what they are trying to get me to do. any help would be appreciated.
