Hello guys,my cousin needs a 2nd computer for his office but his is on a very tight budget and i am trying to help him.

He has the option of buying a used iMac "Core 2 Duo" 3.06 27-Inch (Late 2009) (Specs here) for 400€ from his friend and probably upgrade it with an SSD and some RAM but will it be fast enough? It will be mainly used for office work(a lot of browsing, emails, word, excel) and not for anything 3D related(Maybe some photoshop).

From searching the internet i found out i can replace the CPU for the slightly faster E8600 for about 20€ if it comes to that but i could not find any info about upgrading to a Core 2 Quad. They are the same socket but i couldn't find any info online.Any help/info here would be appreciated.

My main concern would be the GPU.It has 256MB of VRAM and the imac has a very high resolution display.Wouldn't that be a problem on almost everything the computer does on any time(even maybe watching youtube)? How easy would it be to find a somewhat cheap compatible MXM gpu to replace the one it has?

What do you think? Is the cpu fast enough for the work we need it to do? Will the gpu give us a hard time on that type of office work?

Or should i tell him to save up for a Mac mini and a cheap monitor for ~700€ total? We are trying to save money here though and if the imac is good enough for that type of work we will take it.
