Hello everybody, It has been one hell of a week for me, personally and in regards to Hackintosh. Maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew. (Doubtful) Or maybe, this is the universe forcing me to action after so long of being afraid of taking machines apart and getting inside them (Sexual Chocolate!) A little background here. I own four laptops (three hackbooks and one MacBook) I also ordered my first desktop this past week for a Budget HTPC. http://ift.tt/1SJ9o8g So, the week started off with me trying to upgrade the screen in my HP ProBook 4540s to an HD 1080p screen. The most in depth computer repair etc that I've done usually involve upgrading the ram and hard drives in laptops. I've certainly never attempted replacing screens or, God forbid, motherboards. I got the laptop torn down, nice and neat, replaced the screen, replaced the LVDS cable, nice and neat. And put it all back together, nice and neat. I power it on.... Black screen (Fk, ST, C*****R, M******R!!!!!!) Then in the middle of the week, I was up at my mothers apt. to go to her old house to clean it out. (Unfortunately being foreclosed on after my fathers passing.) That went well enough but after driving three hours back home, schlepping a bunch of bags in my hands (in which my Asus HackBook, my baby, was in) a little bit of soda leaked out of a bottle and all over my HackBook. (Trackpad not working, and now, not even powering on. (Fk, ST, C****R, M******R!!!!!!) But I will NOT get rid of it. Have a new palm rest/trackpad on the way. If need be, a mobo too) So now, on Friday, all of the parts showed up for the Media PC that I'm putting together showed up. And now I'm down to only my MacBook (White 2009). Have to create a pen drive for this etc and I hate doing anything Hackintosh related in any official Mac (MAKE SURE TO CHANGE INSTALL LOCATION!!!!). I got the pen drive created and put all of the parts together easily enough but when I went to boot it up, the screen kept turning off after 2 seconds (Hanspree test monitor that I have laying around just for this) but I found a suggestion online that said to turn brightness levels all the way down. That worked thankfully. It booted into Enoch, but where the Install OS X screen should come up, the screen went dark again. Right, I have a dsdt that is for BIOS version 1.13 ONLY, and I am at 1.02 currently. (Fk, ST, C****R, M******R!!!!!!) So now I've got to install Windows (Boo) to update the BIOS, to install OS X but to create the Windows installer, I've got to find a working Windows install since all of my windows are on my out of commission laptops. I have Windows 10 installed on the MacBook but since I did not install it through bootcamp,(I booted right off the pen drive, created a new GPT partition and installed it. Now Windows is default boot lol. Clover on a MacBook anyone?!?!) it now won't startup properly (Attempting Fixes.) Thankfully, I had everything backed up, so I just loaded up one of these backups in Parallels. Finally got into Windows, to create an installer with Rufus. Ahhhh, that's more like it... I go to boot up off of the pen drive, Woohoo! Windows is loading! Created a new partition, installed Windows 10, again Woohoo! Finally reached the desktop, grabbed the BIOS utility off my pen drive, opened it up, gave it permission and then instead of just updating the BIOS, it needed to download an additional file from HP's server but... No network drivers installed yet (Fk, ST, C****R, M******R!!!!!!) At this point, it was 7:15am and I have to get up for work at 1, so I called it a night (with the sun up.) It was at this point as I was putting away my pen drives, that I discovered my Install Windows 10 installer for my HackBook laying at the bottom of the container of USB's that I have, making all of drama of creating a Windows pen drive completely moot! (Fk, ST, C****R, M*******R!!!!!!) The point of this thread is to not ask for help, (yet) but rather to vent my frustrations, give everyone here an interesting read and perhaps a laugh at my misfortunes. (Chinese philosopher Lin-Hiu Tang said Happiness is getting your hair cut every two weeks, and watching your neighbor fall off of their roof) It is also to remind me to keep plowing forward despite it all. When going gets tough etc. etc. It also gets me in touch with the magic BEHIND the Hackintosh scene; all of this bullshit just makes the final result all that much sweeter. Too many times in recent years, I've started something, give it a half-ass effort, and either fail or complete it in a non-satisfactory way. Not this time! As I said in the beginning of this thread, maybe this is the universe' way of forcing me into something that I may be good at, but have been afraid to try, in fear of fucking something up. To anyone else that is stuck, afraid, unsure, or limited in knowledge: Don't give up! Where there is a will, there is a way (and all that jazz) Those bruises on your forehead from banging it into a brick wall will heal.
Peace, for now.
