Hey! I just wanted to share my solution if anyone else had the same problem. I got the instructions from here and they work brilliantly on my El Capitan Hackintosh.
This is for those who tried injecting/installing the ACPIBacklight.kext and found it didn't work with the AddPNLF patch, on Intel HD Graphics (possibly any Intel configuration, have a look at above link).
