I'd like to build a Hackintosh for video editing with a budget of ~$1,000.
I am relatively computer literate, but not when it comes to hardware. So, I asked a friend to help come up with a build. I sent him what might look like a solid Hackintosh and he warned me about my lack of upgrading options:
Intel's LGA 1150 socket has been end-of-lifed and was replaced last year by LGA 1151 to coincide with the release of the Skylake core. The CPU you picked there is among the fastest that will ever exist for that socket, so if you decide you want a faster CPU in the next couple years you'll be buying a new motherboard with it. And, You'll be buying new RAM with it as well. DDR3 has also been succeeded this generation by DDR4, and current/future motherboards will not supposed DDR3 DIMMs.
He sent me his build, which he did not intend to be a Hackintosh:

Taking his advice into consideration, I'd like to know, how close is this to being something I could turn into a Hackintosh?
It sounds like some people are having luck with Skylake CPUs, but I haven't seen anything on the Xeon E3 1230 v5 specifically. Does anyone have any info?
ASUS motherboards don't seem as popular here, thoughts on this one?
I'll mostly be living in After Effects which doesn't take advantage of CUDA, so he went with something that supports OpenCL 2.0/FCPX. However, the R7 360 doesn't look good. Are there any AMD cards that will work in a similar price range? It seems few of the other models have prices listed on PCPP. R9 270X, maybe?
Thanks for any help!
