Looking to build small-ish box w/ at least 'enthusiast' level support for:

  • discrete graphics (not a huge gamer, but enough to blaze thru video stuff, soup-up Adobe products w/ GPU support, and maybe play w/ for some data science applications. gtx 960+ seems more than sufficient, esp. since it's VR-friendly if I decide to mess around w/ that)

  • support for cooling of modest overclocking (looking @ i7-6700k. don't anticipate pushing any limits but would be fun to tweak)

I've done a fair amt of reading & am weighing a few options. Anyone have any input? Also open to options I am not directly considering here (this is all pretty new to me too, so if I appear to have mistaken assumptions, would love to hear it).

  • EVGA Hadron Hydro - comes w/ PSU which I consider a +, slightly more limited graphics card options (b/c of clearance) than Inwin 901. Has liquid cooling grommets (do those matter?)

  • Inwin 901 - costliest, but not by huge margin. also largest, but not too big imo. interesting option for xtra external mounted cooling system in back of case, doesn't look terrible in practice.

  • Lian-Li PC-Q30X - Most unique looking for sure, but maybe most limited wrt cooling options?

  • The last option is getting a cheap case for now & work on 3d-printing something dope in the future. Have never dealt w/ 3d printing but always anxious to try new tech, but not sure how viable a use-case computer cases are.
