How to enable audio for a Sandy Bridge / 6 series laptop with Intel HD Audio

My audio hardware:

Intel Corporation, 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller 

The computer:

Sandy Bridge laptop with an Intel 6 Series chipset 

I tried running Toledo's CloverHDMI script, but it failed to detect my audio hardware?

How would I go about enabling audio for this system?

OS:

Mac OS X 10.8.5 Mountain Lion
