I'm looking to build a hackintosh that can easily drive a single 4K monitor. Ideally I'd like to be around $700 or less. I already have the monitor and a case, so I just need the guts!

I started from this guide, which I think I found while googling for parts compatibility. The problem is the price tag. I know it's half of what a new mac pro base model costs, but I don't think I can drop $1,500 on a computer right now.

Here's my collection of parts based on that guide's shopping list. [edit: With their current prices on Amazon, the total comes to $949.32, so I'm hoping to shave off in the neighborhood of $200-250.]

I swapped out a few things: a USB wifi adapter instead of the PCI-e one, a cheaper CPU, and a cheaper SSD. I looked for a better deal on the RAM but I don't think it can be found. I am fairly set on getting 16gb (though if I could get 8gb for $60 I might change my tune on that...) I'm also planning to reuse a case I have on hand.

The video card is what I am least comfortable choosing. I know I want it to be able to support 4K, but otherwise I'm not incredibly picky. Can I save money by getting something else there?

What about the PSU? Could I save a few bucks there too?

And the motherboard? (Though if I swap the mobo, there's a chance I'll have to get different RAM, so that could have cascading effects...)

I appreciate any advice. This will be my first hackintosh...

[edit 2: I do have Amazon Prime, so shipping cost is not a concern as long as the selected parts are all prime eligible!]
