I'm was thinking about building myself a beast since I've been struggling with my MBP mid 2010 quad i5 2,44 for so long and I finally got it stolen a couple of days after switching the original hdd to a samsung pro ssd and the optical drive to 1tb of space. Life.
So what I'm looking at is the Sabertooth X79 with a 4930k Ivy-Bridge E and 3x R9 280 (not 280x, it feels unnecessary to OC at this point, better to upgrade cards when they lower in price imo and besides, there's a special price on these cards ftm.)
I already figured the X79 and 4930k will work together with a bootable USB with a modified kernel and some boot flags for the internal graphics creating hiccups when installing OS X but what I've notice is that people seem to have problem with their nvidia cards and I haven't seen any successful builds with the new radeon cards. Do you guys know anyone who tried? Or do you have information about this I don't? Please share! I'm really eager to start this build right away!
