I already own a Windows based computer with the following specs:
Gigabyte Z77N-WIFI
Intel i5-3570k
8GB of Kingston RAM, at 1866MHz
EVGA 760 ACX
I was wondering if you all would consider it wise to simply grab another SSD, and use it as the basis for a Yosemite installation. I'm having a surprisingly hard time narrowing down whether or not the old Ivy Bridge CPUs are even compatible with 10.10, so any advice or criticism here would be VERY helpful.
In the event I can't do this, my follow up question is whether or not you'd recommend using 4GB of RAM in Yosemite, because I've heard some reviewers saying that .10 is a bit of a hog with memory. Perhaps in this case I can follow newer hardware guides like tonymac while still using some parts I own.
I'm trying to make this as cheap as possible, as this is really more to placate my curiosity about OSX, and see if a MacBook purchase would suit me in the future.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
