Hello!
Previous thread here
So after using windows 8.1 for a week and feeling an impending aneurism as a result, I rolled up my sleeves and got dirty with the Hackintoshing.
So far - SUCCESS! Yosemite is up and running. Issues I have at the moment are
the ALC1150 onboard sound on my motherboard isn't working. Trying to find a way to fix this with Clover, but everything seems very convoluted or difficult. Could really use some tips here!
Sleep is very weird - the machine powers down, the all the fans come on FULL POWER as if it's been restarted, until i hit a key and it comes back on. If it has gone to sleep, the machine will not shut down properly, and needs to reboot twice at the next power-up. Weird
Occasionally the pci wifi card will cause boot to hang, but it was fixed by adding -f to the bootflags for one cycle.
Other than that, it seems to be fine!
Geekbench has 32bit multicore around 21000, and single core at 3100 (seems a lot lower than it should be for single core...)
I used a combination of Unibeast and Clover, basically following Roche Technology's x99 tutorial here
Everything was so sluggish and at a 640*480 resolution until I installed the Nvidia web drivers in safe mode (-x bootflag), and made sure to select these in the Nvidia panel. It's amazing what a difference the display drivers alone make to the system.
So far I've installed my Wacom tablet, which works perfectly, and photoshop/lightroom via adobe CC - both of which work a treat.
Very happy right now!
Cheers A
