I'm totally a noob here, sorry if these are dumb questions. I've also never built a PC....willing to pay a shop for the work if its reasonable, would love to do it myself if its possible.

In my opinion, this was was best physical case design ever built by apple. Is there a way for me to upgrade it? Could internal parts be replaced on my own to make this "like-new" again, while still keeping most of the ports functional? How about the disc drive?

I have also owned every version of OS X since Leopard, can this be built up as a legitimate unit that could be normally updated if I install from the restore I downloaded from the App Store?

I would need a new battery and charger for sure, and I would upgrade to SSD, but after that I don't know what I would need.

For reference, I run the newest Yosemite already, and its actually more stable than Mavericks, Mountain Lion ever was. So the hardware can already technically handle it, but I need more. Back in the day I could run Handbrake while screwing around in Photoshop and playing a movie on an external screen. Now the fans kick up if I use RES with reddit.

Thanks everybody. Hoping for positive answers!
