I know that the release of 10.4 for Intel Macs was essentially the "beginning" of the hackintosh, but I can't remember if there were ANY groups at all who worked with OS X on PC hardware before then. I can't really imagine that people would have built PCs with PowerPC processors, but I don't have any proof one way or another.
